For this second instalment of Minimalist Design Crush, I want to introduce you to Bethanie Kaye, a Canadian woodturner who makes the most gorgeous modern, minimalist homewares. She uses only sustainably sourced woods and works primarily with walnut, ambrosia maple, elm, pine and cherry.

I came across her work on my Instagram feed and have been smitten ever since. I want every. single. thing. on her page.
Her wooden pieces are both practical home staples and works of art in their own right.
You know that saying "have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful"? I'd take this a step further and suggest that the useful stuff should also be beautiful, when possible.
The most put-together interiors are those where everyday items fit in, or even contribute, to an aesthetic.
Everything Bethanie Kaye creates is both useful and beautiful.

So, of course, I had to have some of this woody goodness for my very own.
I spent over an hour agonizing over which pieces to get. It would've been easier to pick out what not to get.
In the end, I narrowed it down to three of these jaw-dropping candleholders made of beautiful Iroko wood (which is a more budget-friendly, teak dupe from Africa):

When they arrived, I was delighted to find they were even more beautiful than I'd expected. They lasted two seconds in the box before I stuck them full of candles and flaunted them on our entryway table.
That wood grain? To die for.
Too soon for string lights? Once Halloween's over, Holiday decor's fair game in my book.
Candles and candleholders are some of my fave ways to hygge up your home. But, if you're not into candles, these make beautiful decorative objets in their own right.
